Abstract
Metasurfaces became a technology not by making lenses thinner. They became one by concentrating in a single manufacturable layer what conventional optics achieves only with bulky assemblies: sorting light by polarization, spectrum and angle, and delivering rich information, not just images, to the computation behind the light sensor.
