Joshua Mornhinweg is a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow working on polaritonic and nonlinear metasurfaces and joined the Capasso group in March 2024. He obtained his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Regensburg, Germany in the group of Prof. Rupert Huber on “Tailoring and non-adiabatic control of deep-strong light-matter interaction”. In his work he investigated several novel and extreme regimes of deep-strong light-matter interaction in the terahertz regime at non-equilibrium conditions and addressing fundamental questions about the nature of the vacuum. He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees at the University of Regensburg & FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg in the elite graduate program in the elite network Bavaria with a Max-Weber scholarship.
