Unveiling a polarized world – in a single shot

In the latest work published by the Capasso group, Aun Zaidi et al. conceptualize, implement and demonstrate a compact single-shot polarization imaging system that can provide a complete picture of polarization. Free of moving parts or bulk polarization optics, this allows for polarization imaging to be moved away from table-top optical setups in labs, enabling applications in areas such as biomedical imaging, material characterization, machine vision and use in AR/VR systems using just two metasurfaces.
