Free standing bilayer metasurfaces opening the doors to novel flat optics devices

Our latest publication, Dorrah et al. demonstrates a free-standing bilayer metasurface, unveiling new possibilities for advanced polarization control, through realizing asymmetric Jones matrices, thus enabling asymmetric functionality of a single optical device. The bilayer platform also provides additional degrees-of-freedom in dispersion engineering, and added opportunity for making versatile and multifunctional flat optics devices.
